LAYAD Handicrafts : Local Entrepreneur (Feature and Giveaway)

“No guts, no glory” – this is how Angeline Malecdan of Layad Handicrafts describe the world of entrepreneurship.

LAYAD handicrafts showcase unique Cordillera-inspired products. It ranges from everyday accessories like mobile phone cases, ladies’ bags and coin purses, to ornamental plant hangers, to the more manly wine racks.

Techniques include traditional design and “ikat” weaving using the traditional weaving loom, needle works and macramé.

The weavers are mostly jobless women coming from the urban poor segment of a small community located at barangays north and south Bakakeng, Baguio city. It is their desire to augment their family income that made them come up with this livelihood group.
